Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman presented copies of credentials

On 4 December 2024, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan A. Gurbanov and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman to Turkmenistan (with residence in Ankara) Saif Bin Rashid Bin Saif Aljahwari.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador presented copies of his credentials to the Turkmen side and thanked for congratulations on his appointment to the post.

Then, the diplomats discussed current level of development of Turkmen-Omani ties.  It was noted that the visits on high and the highest levels give a strong impetus to the development of bilateral relations. In addition, the sides noted the importance of expanding the legal framework of bilateral cooperation.

The parties discussed cooperation in political-diplomatic vector. In this regard, they considered the possibilities of arranging mutual visits at the level of foreign ministries next year.  They emphasized the importance of mutual support within international and regional structures, taking into account the peace-loving foreign policy of both Turkmenistan and Oman.

The sides expressed interest in developing partnership in the trade and economic sphere. They underlined the availability of opportunities for cooperation in the oil and gas sector, agriculture, textile industry. In this regard, the need to unfold the potential of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman International Transport and Transit Corridor was also highlighted.

The diplomats exchanged views on holding joint events, including business forums, exhibitions and others. The importance of establishing direct contacts between the business circles of two countries was emphasized. 

In addition, the diplomats discussed the possibilities of developing cultural and humanitarian ties, noting the importance of holding reciprocal Days of Culture, exhibitions and relevant events.
