INTER-MFA CONSULTATIONS HELD IN THE FORM OF A VIDEOCONFERENCE BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

On June 11, 2020, inter-MFA consultations were held in the form of a video conference between the foreign affairs agencies of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V.Hajiev. The Chinese side was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Le Yucheng.

During a constructive conversation, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as cooperation between international organizations. Diplomats emphasized the particular importance of enhancing contacts and organizing meetings at the high and the highest levels.

In particular, the parties discussed pressing issues of the regional and international agenda regarding the pandemic. In this context, the importance and timeliness of the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan on the full use of the mechanisms of scientific diplomacy in the fight against such urgent challenges as the spread of coronavirus on a planetary scale was emphasized.

Diplomats also identified priority areas of cooperation in such spheres of the agenda as economics, trade, oil and gas, telecommunications, healthcare, science, education, culture, where each country has great potential for full implementation. The parties agreed to make efforts to hold a regular meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Committee on Cooperation in the near future.
