A MEETING WAS HELD TO DISCUSS THE TASKS ARISING FROM THE NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT OF TURKMENISTAN

On December 9, 2019, a thematic meeting was held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on the discussion of the tasks arising from the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on the Early Childhood Development for the 2020-2025. This document was adopted on December 6, 2019 by the relevant Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan.

The meeting was attended by the heads of specialized structures of the United Nations, working in the country, in particular, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan E. Panova, Acting Permanent Representative of the UN Development Program in Turkmenistan N. Natsvishvili, representative of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan C. Weygand and Head of the WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan P. Karvowska. Also at the meeting from the Turkmen side were the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations A. Atayeva and the leadership of the Ministries of Education and Health and the Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.

The main purpose of this meeting was to popularize measures aimed at ensuring a high degree of protection for motherhood and childhood, and achieving the full realization of the rights of the child at the national level.

During the discussion, it was noted that Turkmenistan in this context has great potential for multifaceted implementation and that the country has created all the necessary conditions to ensure a positive and happy childhood. Participants of the event also emphasized the importance of protecting maternal health, nutrition, safety and child protection, the effectiveness and quality of educational and other services provided for children, providing positive parenting skills and the comprehensive interaction of public and private structures to achieve high indicators in the implementation of early-oriented tasks development of children.
