ROUND TABLE ON PROGRESS EVALUATION OF NATIONAL ACTION PLAN OF TURKMENISTAN ON COMBATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Ashgabat, 31 August 2018 – Round table on progress evaluation of National Action Plan on Combating Human Trafficking for 2016-2018 (NAP) was organized.

The representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, International Organization for Migration, US Embassy in Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republic of Kazakhstan, the State Migration Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, relevant institutions, law-enforcement bodies and NGOs in Turkmenistan and international experts took part in the event.

In the course of round table, the implementation of NAP for 2016-2018 was analyzed and further joint action aimed at combating human trafficking crimes was discussed. The participants considered developing legal framework for interagency and intersectoral cooperation in providing assistance to trafficking victims within the mechanism for redirecting victims of trafficking in persons.        

Drafting Action Plan for the next period was also discussed based on conclusions made during the round table meetings.
